2008-2009 Winter
Trout Files
The 2008-2009 trout season
is upon us! All over the state of Texas, the department of wildlife along with local cities are stocking rainbow trout in rivers,
lakes, and ponds. Check your local department of wildlife for information on stocking in your location. In north texas
we have started the trout season off with bang and the best is yet to come!
Greenbriar Park (Fort
Worth TX), Stocking began on December 3rd. Due to a warm front the fishing has been slow. A number of
the trout where swimming on top very slugish and would not bite. I managed to catch 2 small trout on
a gold 501 super-duper. In the last 24 hours temperatures have dropped to freezing, so the fishing should pick up within the
next 48 hours.

Lakeside Park (Duncanville TX) December 1st the
temperatures are just right at this higher elevation to bust trout. Our bait of choice would have to be the super-duper.
Don't be afraid to try new baits, color, and technique to catch more fish, remember trout are picky creatures. Water
clarity and weather patterns change instantly and so should you,

December 4th, after a slow start
to the morning the bite was on. Through a 30 minutes Florry of fish on power bait, I managed to land two nice trout.

December 25th (Christmas Day!!!)
What beter way to spend the holiday than bustin somthing. It was a cold sunny day, and the bite was slow. In three hours
or so, I caught three monster trout all on power bait. Anthony
December 26th, on a clear sunny very windy day, my luck came in
the form of a silver super-duper. It seems as if they couldn't resist it, I caught these hogs all in about 20 minutes.

It's A Family Affair!!!
December 27th, turned out to be a nice
sunny cool day. This is Tonys (Anthony's Dad) first rainbow trout encounter. After his first bite on that super-duper
he was hooked. By the end of the day they had caught 6 monster trout on a verity on power bait and super-dupers.
These trout were caught during the winter stocking in North Texas. We used a simple rig with a 1/8th
oz wight above a leader of about 1 to 1 1/2 ft with a single trebal hook, and berklry trout power bait
in green, orange, and white(The smaller the hook the better). Also we used small supperbuppers, panther martins, and
rooster tails with a slow retrieve.
