This
recipe is as southern as it gets. From Sunday dinner to back yard fish fry’s in to summer, you can’t
go wrong with some good ol deep fried pan fish from the local waters. As a kid and even till this day this
is one of my favorite meals to enjoy. In our family we have our own way of making deep fried fish and I would like to share
the recipe with you today…
Step 1:
Start with cleaned pan fish and wash thoroughly. After washing the fish begin to heat the oil in your deep fryer. While
the oil is heating, grab a zip lock bag which will be used to prepare the breading for the fish.
Step2:
Pour cornmeal into bag I prefer to use cornmeal for the breading because it allows you to season to your own taste
(Some may prefer prepackaged fish fry). Mix in salt, black/lemon pepper, and whatever other seasonings that you may
want to add. Mix seasoning into cornmeal shake well until all mixed together. Next, drop fish into breading bag, if using
whole fish be careful with the fins. Shake fish around until fully coated in breading.
Step
3: By now the oil should be heated to cooking temperature. Carefully
remove breaded fish from bag and place in HOT oil. Allow fish to fry 5 to 8 minutes
depending on thickness. A good indicator the fish is done it will begin to float in the oil. Once fish
is done, remove from oil and place on paper towel to cool and allow excess oil to drain off.
Once the fish is cool, serve up with sides. This dish goes great
with a fresh salad or whatever side u decide to combine with it get ready to enjoy some off the best fish you will have ever
had!!!
